Effective 9/1/23 VCFS will be transitioning to the Magnolia Group
When I first started with the village, I was barely getting by. The day I met with my counselor I had got an eviction notice. I barely had ketchup in my refrigerator. My counselor talked me through it and was able to get me help from some charities around my way. I am better with my money since we do stuff like making a budget and using coupons. I also eat a lot of healthy foods. I couldn’t tell you what an avocado was before my counselor came into my life.
My counselor understands the way I am. When they say they will do something, they do it and don’t make excuses. I had bad experiences with other companies that made me feel like I was a welfare case. I can pick up the phone right now and call the office and they will take time to listen. They make me feel like I’m part of a family.
If I lost my counselor today I don’t know what I would do. I never had confidence in myself. I had a bad attitude and did not trust anybody. Had you caught me a few months ago before I started working with my counselor , you would have seen a different person. I have a reason to feel good and be in control of my life. The services have been a blessing for me and my kids.
